Get to know the types of network layers

In this article, we are going to discuss the network layers and get to know them. The network has always been a complex issue, which is clearly evident in the network support. This concept has many layers that we need to know as someone who provides computer network support. So, as a result, in this article, we will describe the two main divisions of network layers and their sub-layers, discussing their functions and features. So, stay with us in this article that we are going to provide you with important information.

The network layers

In order to talk about network layers, we need to know a few things. Network engineering is a very complex work and includes software engineering, operating system, chips level, hardware and electrical pulses. For ease of network support, the entire network concept is divided into multiple layers. Each layer can be involved in certain tasks and operate independently from all other layers. In general, it should be noted that almost all network affairs depend on the activities of the network layers. These layers are placed on top of each other and share data with each other, this is done in an inter-layer way, these layers are dependent on each other, so that each layer receives the input data and transfers the output data to the next layers.

Tasks of the network layers

Now in network maintenance and the architecture related to network layers, all network activities are divided into a series of small tasks. Each small task is assigned to a specific layer and each layer works so that only its main task is done. In communication systems of network layers, a layer of a host performs certain tasks with its partner layers at the same level in remote hosts. This action may start from the lowest layers of the surface or from the layers of the upper levels. If our work is started by the highest layer, this layer sends the work to the layer below for further processing. In this case, the lower layers do the same and process the work and send it back to the layers below. Now, if the work starts with the lowest layer, the opposite path is taken towards the higher layers.

Each layer maintains all the procedures, protocols and functions needed to perform its tasks. All layers, using header and data packets, fully recognize their peers and do their own thing. Now we want to discuss the types of network layers. Computer network support has several types of models, which are divided into different layers. We will examine these models with their layers.

OSI model of network models

Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model is an open standard for all communication systems. Now this OSI network model is launched by the International Standard Organization (ISO). This model has seven layers, which we will describe to you as follows:

Application Layer
Presentation Layer
Session Layer
Transport Layer
Network Layer
Data Link Layer
Physical Layer

Application Layer: This layer provides the user interface to the software users and this layer includes a series of protocols that directly interact with the application.

Presentation Layer: This layer specifies how the data in the native format of the remote host should be presented in the native format of the host.

Session Layer: This layer maintains the session between remote hosts.

Transport Layer: This layer sends data from one end to another end of the host.

Network Layer: This layer is responsible for determining the address and unique addressing of hosts in a network.

Data Link Layer: The task of this layer is to read and write online data. Connection errors are detected in this layer.

Physical Layer: This layer defines the hardware, wiring, output power, number of pulses and other things for the network. All types of network and hardware support services are related to this layer.
